Bureau of Land Management (BLM)

April 12, 2018 – The BLM requests public nominations to serve on the North Slope Science Initiative’s (NSSI) Science Technical Advisory Panel. The Panel advises the NSSI Oversight Group on technical issues such as identifying and prioritizing inventory, monitoring, and research needs across the North Slope of Alaska and the adjacent marine environment. Nominations and applications for panel membership must be received no later than May 29, 2018. [83 FR 15865]

Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM)

April 3, 2018 – BOEM announces the proposed Gulf of Mexico Outer Continental Shelf Oil and Gas Region-wide Lease Sale 251. Governors of affected states may comment on size, timing, and location within 60 days of their receipt of the Proposed Notice of Sale. Bid opening is currently scheduled for August 15, 2018. April 6, 2018 – BOEM invites the public to comment on the development of a future leasing for offshore renewable leasing plan on the United States Atlantic Coast. The plan will help BOEM assess which geographic areas along the Atlantic are the most likely to have highest potential for successful offshore wind development in the next three to five years. Comments should be submitted no later than May 21, 2018. [83 FR 14881]

April 6, 2018 – BOEM invites the public to comment on its proposal to renew an information collection, with revisions, concerning the paperwork requirements in the regulations under 30 CFR part 580, Prospecting for Minerals Other Than Oil, Gas, and Sulphur on the Outer Continental Shelf and Authorizations of Noncommercial Geological and Geophysical Activities. Comments must be submitted on or before June 5, 2018. [83 FR 14884]

Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)

April 30, 2018 – The EPA proposes the “Strengthening Transparency in Regulatory Science Rule.” The rule would require that the underlying data from scientific studies informing EPA rules be made publicly available. Comments on the proposed rule must be received on or before May 30, 2018. [83 FR 18768]

National Science Foundation (NSF)

April 5, 2018 – NSF announced a meeting for the Proposal Review Panel for the Office of International Science and Engineering – PIRE: Building Extreme Weather Resiliency Through Improved Weather and Climate Prediction and Emergency Response Strategies. The meeting will be held at SUNY at Albany, and will be a site visit to conduct an in-depth performance evaluation, assess progress towards goals, and provide recommendations during year three of the five-year award period. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)

April 27, 2018 – NOAA announces a public meeting of the NOAA Science Advisory Board (SAB) on May 24, 2018. The meeting will be to discuss the 2018-2019 SAB work plan. [83 FR 18536]

U.S. Geological Survey (USGS)

April 18, 2018 – USGS is proposing to renew authorization for information collection from state geological surveys that request National Geospatial and Geophysical Data Preservation Program (NGGDPP) funds to preserve geoscience materials and data. Comments should be submitted on or before June 18, 2018. [83 FR 17187]

April 18, 2018 – USGS is proposing to renew an information collection for the National Cooperative Geologic Mapping Program (NCGMP) EDMAP and STATEMAP components, which fund universities and state geological surveys to produce geologic maps across the nation. Comments should be submitted on or before June 18, 2018.  [83 FR 17188]

April 24, 2018 – USGS announces the annual public meeting of the Federal Interagency Collaborative for Environmental Modeling and Monitoring (ICEMM) on April 25 to 26, 2018. The meeting will focus on the theme of “Monitoring and Model Data Fusion.” [83 FR 16379]

April 24, 2018 – USGS announces a Federal Advisory Committee meeting of the National Cooperative Geologic Mapping Program (NCGMP) and National Geospatial and Geophysical Data Preservation Program (NGGDPP) will take place on Tuesday, May 1 and Wednesday, May 2, 2018. [83 FR 17839]
