Preparing Our Workforce: Hosting Career Discussions

Registration is closed for this event

This course is designed to provide you with access to well-tested tools that will aid you in discussing career opportunities in the geosciences. In particular, we encourage you to consider using some of the more non-traditional approaches, which you will work through in this course. Our assessments have shown our materials and methods to be effective at engaging the broad range of students you are likely to meet.

This course will take about 2.5 hours to complete. There are three main sections to the course:

  • Thinking Outside the Box: Examining all types of geoscience careers
  • Workforce trends: Looking at the past to understand the future
  • Networking: The key to landing that geoscience career

Additionally, each of these main sections have two sets of objectives:

  • Course Objectives are goals which we are striving to achieve during this course.
  • POW Initiative Presentation Objectives are the goals which we're aiming to achieve during the actual discussions with students and faculty.
